Successful Microcurrent Therapy For Pet Cat Courtesy Of Online Research
Mar 20th, 2010 by DV

A “good Googler” is what my friends tell me. Which means I can search just about anything you want to know through Google. My curiosity pushes me to search further and find the answers even when my friends searched but are unable to find what they are looking for. Animal Chiropractic

I discovered online the veterinarian’s web site, named Dr. Ava Frick’s. The fact that Dr. Frick has had great results treating pets using microcurrent therapy actually caught my attention. She was able to treat her canine, feline, and equine patients who suffered from depression, anxiety, pain, and many other problems.

Most people are alarmed as I mentioned “microcurrent therapy” so please do not confuse this treatment with those awful collars other people use to keep their dogs from barking. You actually know what I am pertaining to. These collars respond to the dog’s barking by emitting an electric shock to scare the poor dog, and the dog soon stops barking to avoid severe pain. These collars are just similar to torture so why treat your beloved pet this way?

From Dr. Frick, I learned that microcurrent therapy is designed to aid pets by relieving their pain and suffering. Dr. Frick uses this state-of-the-art technology to provide your cat, dog or horse with the best environment to enable healing and relief in a highly controlled environment.

Dr. Frick told me the history of microcurrent therapy, which goes a long way back. Actually, its use has been running for more than 2000 years.

Microcurrent therapy is helpful in fighting ailments and symptoms such as depression, anxiety, headaches, back aches, spinal injuries, and behavioral problems. If something seems to be wrong with your pet, I urge you to investigate and do whatever you can in order to make your pet feel better. Animal Chiropractic

Pet Arthritis Pain And Depression Reduced By Electronic Current Therapy

I talk about the positive changes my Maltese, Tuxedo encountered whenever I get a chance since I observed we had problems and made the decisions to set things on the right path. He was very active and seemed to enjoy the training that we did together, including running and going through tunnels in his younger days. Along with being adorable, Tuxedo often gave me fits because he was such a pro at making messes and destroying things at my apartment – couch pillows, designer shoes, expensive throw rugs. Just name it. He would attack it if it was within Tuxedo’s reach or he was able to jump onto a piece of furniture. Animal Chiropractic

When Tuxedo destroyed a very sentimental item from my childhood, I sat down the computer to look for answers online. What causes this dog to be hyper? What torments this little soul to come up with such messes each day and cost me so much? I have been longing peacefulness and sense of calm for Tuxedo.

He did calm down a bit as Tuxedo grows older. However, he seemed to pick up a new problem. I observed symptoms of having stiff joints from Tuxedo. I sat down at the computer once more, searching for a list of signs and symptoms that might give me a firm answer since I wasn’t sure if he was in pain or not. I wanted to do whatever I could to make sure he was comfortable because I hated the idea of knowing that he was in pain.

The stiffness meant that Tuxedo had trouble getting around. He was not able to maneuver the small set of doggy steps next to my bed to reach his favorite spot to nap in the sunshine during the day. I wondered if he might be depressed and it broke my heart.

Then I find myself researching online again. Sure beats the old days where we were limited to whatever we might find in our local libraries! I discovered Midwest Microcurrent, a veterinary clinic that uses electronic current (also known as cranial electrotherapy stimulation) to reduce or eliminate many symptoms that pets might suffer from while searching for what might be troubling Tuxedo and how we could resolve the issues,

Our introductory appointment with Dr. Ava Frick and her team provided a diagnosis of canine arthritis and depression for Tuxedo. While I was alarmed to hear this, I was also relieved to know that, with diagnosis in hand, we were ready to move forward on a journey toward healing.

Dr. Frick explained that could continue Tuxedo’s treatment session at home by buying our own Alpha-Stim machine once we start Alpha-Stim microcurrent treatments at her office. This would prevent the need for me to make the one-hour drive to the clinic each day.

I am grateful to Dr, Frick and the staff at Midwest Microcurrent for returning the old Tuxedo back to me. Equine Arthritis

Helping A Dog Recover From Its Owner’s Death
Mar 13th, 2010 by DV

Being a huge movie buff, one of my all-time favorite teen flicks being “Clueless” starring Alicia Silverstone, Paul Rudd, who later went on to “Friends” and other movies, and Brittarny Murphy. So last December, I was stunned by the news about Brittany Murphy’s sudden death. Canine Chiropractic

As they laid her to rest, following her funeral at Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Los Angeles, California, my heart went out to her mother and her husband, Simon Monjack. The 32-year old actress had a heart attack, which caused her death at their shared home with her husband in LA on December 20, 2009, as stated by the news reports.

As I clicked through her husband’s web site I saw breathtaking photos that Simon had taken of Brittany. It is such a shame for someone that beautiful and talented to be taken too soon.

What truly broke my heart was when I learned of Brittany’s female Maltese named Clara aside from the tragic loss of her family and fans. I am such an animal lover that I cried when I read online at People magazine’s web site that Brittany’s husband said that the dog was experiencing a change in behavior since Brittany’s death.

Clara was a Christmas gift from the husband to his wife the previous year. Brittany named her after silent film star Clara Bow and was reported as describing Clara as “a humongous personality in a tiny package. She is treated not as a pet but as a family member.

I had never really given it much thought, but this tragic turn of events made me wonder how pets react to their owner’s death. Do pets mourn? If so, how do survivors handle the pet’s physical and emotional health during the mourning period?

My pet’s veterinarian, Dr.Ava Frick, is a specialist in pet behavior. In fact, she has been using Alpha Stim technology treatments on one of my dogs due to problems with his excessive barking and showing aggression toward my other two dogs.

At our next appointment, Dr.Frick and I discussed Clara and pets’ ability to mourn. She said that it is common for a dog to go through a mourning period after the loss of a human or animal companion. In fact, the symptoms can be exhibited for days or even weeks afterwards, including decreased appetite, lethargy, and changes in the dog’s behavior.

She said that keeping a dog in its normal routine in such cases is important. Exercise can do wonders to relieve stress for pets as with humans who are going through issues. Being with familiar people, and even meeting a few new friendly faces, can boost the pet’s mood, as well.

It is a wise decision to seek for professional advice if the pet’s mourning period seems to continue longer than expected. Your veterinarian can identify Physiologic abnormalities, which might be contributing to the dog’s depression.

Complementary and alternative therapies like acupuncture, herbal supplements, and dietary modification are suitable for dogs who are mourning and experiencing depression. Animal Pain Relief

Swine Flu: Can Your Pet Catch It?
Mar 7th, 2010 by DV

After all of the buzz in the news over the last few months about the Swine Flu (also known as H1N1 influenza), I grew concerned over whether my two West Highland White Terriers, Bogie and Bacall, might be in danger. The cat had developed signs of a respiratory infection after several people in its family were ill.

After tests resulting as positive for H1N1, the cat was reported as the first cat infected with the swine Flu. Pet Pain Relief

She said that it is always a wise move to be vigilant on your pet’s health and contact your veterinarian for any suspecting concerns.

Dr Frick went on to explain to me that canine influenza, which is also known as H3N8 influenza, is different from H1N1 influenza (which is the official name for the Swine Flu).

Though canine influenza is more common in dogs than H1N1, it bears much serious threat. It has the unfortunate ability to spread quickly through anywhere there is a population of dogs such as rescue organizations, kennels, or greyhound facilities and can pass directly from one dog to another.

Pneumonia is sometimes a fatal complication of canine influenza. It has been reported that its mortality is approximately 10%.

So far, H1N1 does not seem to be capable of passing among animals, however authorities are telling us that H1N1 can infect cats and maybe dogs. For several years of Dr. Frick taking care of everything to boost the immune systems of Bogie and Bacall through stress relief with Alpha-Stim treatment, providing them with multi-vitamins, and a healthy diet, I am delighted and at peace.
